Maintaining open source on weekends

Issues, pull requests and burnout: what two years of running Routewise taught me.

Routewise started as a weekend experiment. A year later it had 600 open issues and I was close to archiving it.

What saved it was boring structure: issue templates, a clear contributing guide, two trusted co-maintainers, and a rule that I only review pull requests on weekends.

The project is healthier now than when I did everything myself, and I still enjoy opening it on a Saturday morning.
